Fun, Freedom and Your First Car
Remember your first car? Mine was a 1956 Buick Century. It was big as a house, with a big V8, dual glasspack mufflers and lots of chrome. We called it "La Bomba," because it was always on the verge of blowing up. Boy, I wish I still had that car. Unfortunately, it met an untimely death on the I-5 in Del Mar and all I have today are great memories - and the chrome airplane hood ornament that I managed to remove before it was towed away.
Chances are, you have the same fond feelings for your first car. No matter the year, make, or model, your first car meant two things - fun and freedom! I hope you get those same feelings South Bay ExpresswaySM. No sitting in traffic or worrying about whether you're going to get there on time. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the drive.
As you look over this issue of The Sun, you'll notice we've put together some great deals to keep you and your car happy on the road. Just another way to say thanks for choosing SBX! I also encourage you to check out the information on our upcoming Drive for Charity and FasTrak® customer Dan Biggs' very cool 1923 Ford Roadster.
So get out there and drive. Whether you're racing around in the "Red Sled" or piloting a minivan full of Little Leaguers, we're here to make your experience a fun, fast and reliable drive around the South Bay!

SBX Turns "2" and We're Driving for Charity!
That's right - we'll be two years old on November 19. And to celebrate, we're holding our 2nd annual Drive for Charity. It's simple. For every trip taken on SBX on November 19, 2009, we'll donate $1.00 to charity.
Last year, your trips resulted in a $30,000 donation to Endow Chula Vista. This year, we've decided to spread it around a bit.
By driving on SBX on November 19, you'll be benefiting The Chula Vista Nature Center, South Bay Community Services, San Diego Food Bank, South Bay Family YMCA and local youth sports. We'll also use some of the money raised that day to provide needed items and scholarships for our local high schools.
Don't forget to "Drive for Charity" on Thursday, November 19, 2009, and check out our next newsletter to see what happens when everyone comes together to help the community!

Cool Cars on SBX!
Trivia question: Do you know how many cars SBX customers have registered with their FasTrak accounts? 67,421. Wow, that's a lot of cars! Every car that travels SBX is our favorite, but one cool car we came across stood out among the rest. It also happens to be the oldest car registered for FasTrak. When we met Dan Biggs, we couldn't wait to get a closer look at his 1923 Ford Model-T Roadster! They don't make 'em like this anymore!
The same kind of hard work and determination that went into building SBX went into assembling his Roadster. It was built, piece by piece, over nine months (and will never really be done, according to Dan) and was assembled from parts of three different cars. If anyone is qualified to restore this classic, it's Dan Biggs. He started restoring Model-T's 12 years ago when he and his wife became empty nesters.
As a Bonita resident since 1976, Dan's interest of these beauties on wheels goes beyond just restoring them. Dan was the President of the Auto Museum in Balboa Park and is a member of the San Diego Prowlers, the oldest continuously running hot rod club in America, started in 1947!
When Dan's not busy with his business running Giftaria.com, a group of specialty, online, party-planning supply sites, he takes his 85-year-old father out on the road in the Roadster. Dan says his dad likes going anywhere that car goes. They've traveled mostly in the southwestern United States, and they turn heads everywhere they go.
When asked why he liked driving SBX in his classic car, Dan said, "My car and SBX are alike in that they are both very fast and the quickest way to get from point A to point B!" Keep an eye out for Dan on SBX - he's guaranteed to stand out in his classic car!

Congratulations Park View Little League!
We are so proud to welcome home our star athletes from their win at the Little League World Series. Thank you to all our FasTrak customers who responded to our call to help raise money to send the boys to the World Series. You helped to provide a once in a lifetime opportunity for these exceptional 12- and 13-year-old boys by sending them to South Williamsport, Pa. They didn't let us down. They played hard - with pride and sportsmanship. They brought home the win!
Congratulations to our hometown heroes!

SBX Cares Update - Visit us Facebook
Thanks to our customers, we're able to give back to our community - and we love it! We recently contributed to South Bay Community Services' efforts to combat domestic violence and sponsored the City of Chula Vista's Beautify Chula Vista Day. Through our employee-giving program, we also contributed to the McMillin Elementary School PTA to help with art enrichment, assemblies and teacher/health office grants. Our employees also financially supported EUNIME, a Tijuana-based organization that works on both sides of the border to provide support to children and their families living with HIV/AIDS.
You'll begin to notice the use of our new SBX Cares logo around town and on our website, too! Click here and become a fan on our Facebook page, and see more details on the organizations that we are so privileged to have helped.
