South Bay Expressway Taps Otay Chamber of Commerce Alumnus for Key Position
(SAN DIEGO - December 13, 2005) - South Bay Expressway, a 10-mile technologically advanced toll road extending from SR 54 in Spring Valley to SR 905 near the Otay Mesa International Border Crossing, today announced the hire of Joaquin Luken as business development representative.
Luken comes to the South Bay Expressway team from the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce where he most recently served as associate director. During his five year tenure at the Chamber, Luken served as marketing and membership director and was responsible for recruiting more than 400 new Chamber members, representing a 35 percent increase in the organization's membership.
Luken is a graduate of I.T.E.S.M. (Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey) where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration. He also holds a certificate in Global Strategy and Management from the University of San Diego.
"South Bay Expressway is the region's most significant transportation project in decades and its benefits will be felt on both sides of the border," said Luken. "I'm pleased to be apart of this project."
In his new role with South Bay Expressway, which officially begins Jan. 3, 2006, Luken will be responsible for creating opportunities and developing business relationships on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border through commercial accounts, business-to-business partnerships and community relations and market outreach, including Spanish language outreach.
"Joaquin is highly regarded throughout the South Bay for his tremendous accomplishments at the Otay Chamber of Commerce," said Greg Hulsizer, CEO of California Transportation Ventures, Inc. (CTV), the owner and operator of South Bay Expressway. "We are pleased to have him on board."
