(SAN DIEGO - August 25, 2004) - California Transportation Ventures, Inc. (CTV), a private consortium selected by Caltrans to finance, develop and operate the State Route 125 South Toll Road in South County, today announced three veteran toll and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) experts have joined the SR 125 South Toll Road team.
Teri Argabright has been appointed Director of Operations and will have overall responsibility for the design, implementation and ongoing operation of SR 125 South toll collection, roadway operations, traffic management, technology and customer service activities. Argabright's background includes 25 years in toll and ITS technology, operations, and business management. A graduate of San Diego State University, Argabright began her career at Solar Turbines, a San Diego-based engineering and energy product firm, and comes to the SR 125 South project from her current position as associate vice president with Iteris, a firm specializing in ITS systems engineering and sensor technology for surface transportation. Argabright has also held high level management positions with Parsons Brinckerhoff Farradyne and SAIC.
Norm Chabot has been appointed Toll Operations Manager. Reporting to Argabright, he will be responsible for managing SR 125 South toll collection system design, installation and testing and roadway operations, maintenance and traffic management activities. Chabot has worked on the SR 125 South project for several years, serving as Toll Systems Manager under contract through Parsons Transportation Group. Chabot brings more than 35 years of worldwide experience in toll facilities and operations to the SR 125 South project team.
Shane Savgur will join the SR 125 South team as Systems Manager. Also reporting to Argabright, he will be responsible for managing CTV's systems and information technology team, contracts and activities. With more than 12 years of toll and traffic management systems experience, Savgur is an expert on California toll system development and deployment. He has held key project management roles on the implementation of electronic toll systems on the SR 91 Express Lanes and Caltrans bridges in the Bay area. Savgur holds a bachelor of technology in civil engineering and a master's degree in transportation engineering.
"We are pleased to have attracted such high level talent to the SR 125 South team," said CTV Chief Executive Officer Greg Hulsizer. "Teri, Norm and Shane are highly respected in the industry and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the SR 125 South team. Their hiring is indicative of our commitment to excellence when it comes to our operations and serving our customers. I am excited to work with them in bringing San Diego commuters a new transportation alternative."
About SR 125 South
The expansion of SR 125 has been part of California's planned freeway system since 1959, and part of SANDAG's Regional Transportation Plan, which lays out the region's projects through the year 2030. In September 2003, California Transportation Ventures (CTV) hosted the official groundbreaking for the southernmost portion of State Route 125 South (SR 125 South), a 9.3-mile technologically advanced toll road that will run from SR 54 in Spring Valley to SR 905 near the Otay Mesa International Border Crossing. The toll road has been hailed as a "missing link" in San Diego's freeway network and is expected to reduce traffic congestion on I-5 and I-805 as well as on roads and surface streets throughout the growing South County. The SR 125 South Toll Road will open to the public in in early 2007.
